IMPHAL, March 18: After the State government passed the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015 in the Assembly, although its contents are hotly contested by the JCILPS, the government must find a remedy to contain the increased tension and chaos on the ILP issues, suggested Khumukcham Joykisan MLA Thangmeiband Constituency on Wednesday.

This was stated to media persons in the sideline of a Swine flu preventive campaign in the Thangemeiband Assembly Constituency area where he distributed Arsenic Album 30 in collaboration with Ayush Directorate at North Imphal Youth Orient Club (NIYOC) Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai.

He further said that the ongoing JCILPS agitation against the passing of the Bill in Assembly should not be taken lightly by the government.

The JCILPS is demanding the protection of indigenous people, but the government Bill has missed many of the points the JCILPS raised, he said.

So we also like to take the issue seriously in the interest of Manipur. Such public issue should not be considered as the responsibility of only JCILPS but also of all the people of the State.

The trend of uncontrolled influx of outsiders to a state with small population is a threat to the indigenous people and a fear psychosis of extinction is distinct in them, he said.

Someday the outsider population will dominate and origin people of Meitei, Pangal, Naga and Kuki communities, he said.

The JCILPS is agitation therefore is relevant and all top officers, MLAs and Minister and all the rest of the people must remember it is their responsibility to ensure protection of the indigenous peoples.

He appealed to the State Government to understand the public and not delay amendment of the Bill.

Regarding the distribution of the Swine flu preventive care medicine to Thangmeiband people he said Swine Flu is not as dangerous as it is made out to be and people should not panic.

The state government has also taken up various preventive measures to confront this viral disease, he said.
