Khwairamband bomb was triggered using remote control: Gaikhangam

IMPHAL, March 13: The bomb that exploded on March 11 at Khwairamband Keithel Temporary Market was an improvised explosive device (IED) triggered using a remote control device.

This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the Home portfolio, in the House today giving an official statement regarding the incident.

He said three persons were killed and 23 persons were injured in the bomb blast. The injured are being treated at RIMS, Rajmedicity and Shija Hospitals.

Police have registered a suo-motto case in regard to the incident under FIR No 29 (3) 2015 City PS u/s 121/121-A/302/307/326/34 IPC & 13/19 UA (P) Act and 3 Explosive Substances Act.
