IMPHAL, March 20: Let us make voice of women heard so that women security scheme and measures taken up in New Delhi as well as in our own state Manipur are sound, said Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi.
Sarda said this in a reception ceremony of her appointed as National Vice-President of BJP Mahila Morcha from NE States at Khonghampat Mayai Leikai community hall under the aegis of Human Care Foundation today.
In her keynote address to the function, Boby Devi, Managing Trustee of Human Care Foundation said that A Sarda Devi is a unique women among Manipuris who has contributed much in politics. Her appointing as National Vice-President of Mahila Morcha from Manipur might also be the first in history of the State, she added.
`We hoped our sister will do something for Manipuri women and to ensure government sponsored schemes are fully implemented, unlike in the past,` Boby said. For this we all have to thoroughly know all the schemes meant for women, whether it Jandhan Yojana or any other women empowerment schemes, she said.
Chief Guest of the function Adhykarimayum Sarda Devi said this is the right time for all women to joint the BJP. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi the government has taken up several measures for protection and welfare of women in India, she said.
The NDA has done something which the 60 years rule of Congress party couldn`™t perform, she claimed.
The Atul Bihar Vaspayee took up a measures to protect the unborn baby girl with the passing of an Act against medical termination of pregnancy and in its footsteps Narendra Modi has implemented Bati Bachao Beti Parao scheme in India, she said.
Under this scheme Sukniya Srmidhi Yojana was also introduce by NDA government by which a girl born in between 2005 to 2015 can open an account in the bank with Rs. 1000 for a year and will continue to earn interest for 21 years till the girl reaches maturity.
Fifty percent earned from this scheme can be withdrawn when the girl reaches 18 years as Higher education fund, or this can be used in her marriage.
There are more schemes taken up for security of women in New Delhi, she said. This include CCTV cameras installed in train compartments reserved for women. If any crime happens to women hotline number 182 is provide to reach Delhi police, she said. All these are reflected in the Union Budget 2015-16 she said.
Not only this, the Nirdhaya Fund, named after the infamous Delhi rape case can give financial assistance to victim women of crime in India. Before there was only Rs. 1 crore but from this year after the NDA government came to power this fund has been increased to Rs. 2 crores.
The Indian government has provided a mobile apps `Himmat` for the safeguard the women at any place in New Delhi, she also said.
She further appealed to the representatives of the people to take up steps for welfare of the people. Manipur women must speak up so their voices can reach the Central government, she said.
Later in the function, local women of Konghampat distributed Swine Flu preventive medicine Arsenic Album 30 of Ayush Directorate, free of cost.
In the reception function, Y Mohindro, Mangi Pradhan of Potsangbam, ex-candidate Ph Pakchao were also present as president and guest of honour respectively.
