IMPHAL, April 4: Thongju Constituency has not seen any development work after MLA Th Bishwajit was elected other than the construction of some crematories.

This was stated by former Thongju Kendra MLA Bijoy Koijam speaking at a press meet at his resident at Old Nambuland.

He said that some workers of the sitting MLA Th Bishwajit had charged that no development work was taken up by him in his 10 year tenure as an MLA, be it PDS items distribution or road connectivity or anything related to development in the constituency.

He further asked what the new MLA has done for the development of Thonju Kendra except construction of some crematories.

He maintained that during his tenure he distributed the PDS items according to the allocated amount of share to the people of the constituency.

He also maintained that he blacktopped most of the roads in Thongju Constituency in his10 year tenure.

He challenged to hold a public open debate to compare the development works that have been done during his tenure and sitting MLA Th Bishwajit.

He further said the people of Kongba Kshetri Leikai wanted to clean the drainages at Kongba and convened a public meeting to discuss the matter on March 22.

And as per the resolution and agreement brought during that meeting he started the process of earthwork to clean the drains by using an excavator from March 24 along with residents of Kongba area, he said.

The digging and cleaning of the drainage using two excavators was conducted under the 9 Sector Assam Rifle`™s civic action programme, he said.

But in the meantime, sitting MLA Bishwajit came and stopped the earthwork which was started after the local clubs have requested the Assam Rifles by submitting an official letter, to help in the earthwork by providing excavators.
