KSO suspends economic blockade

KANGPOKPI, May 13: The seven-day economic blockade imposed by Kuki Students`™ Organization Sadar Hills has been suspended today evening after the government assured to address its charters of demands during a meeting held between the government and representatives of the organization at the office of Chief Minister O Ibobi today.

From the government side, the meeting was attended by Chief Minister, Deputy CM Gaikhangam; Commerce & Industries and Sericulture, Vety & Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas Konthoujam; PHED and Labour and Employment Minister I Hemochandra; Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungjathang and IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip.

The representatives of KSO comprising of five members was led by its president Thangminlen Kipgen.

In the meeting that lasted for about one hour, the government assured the representatives that its charters of demands will be fulfilled at the earliest after which the organization decided to call off the seven days economic blockade along the National Highways.
