IMPHAL, June 15: A team of All Manipur Working Journalists`™ Union (AMWJU) led by its president and vice-president has intercepted a four wheeler vehicle sporting `Press`™ sticker without any affiliation to any media houses today.
Addressing newspersons at Manipur Press Club in connection with the incident, president of AMWJU Wangkhemcha Shamjai said that a white-colour Verna car bearing registration number WB 74L3801 sporting `Press`™ sticker was followed from Secretariat and stopped near Uripok Canteen by a team of AMWJU.
He identified owner of the car as Akoijam Premjit, 28 son of AK Biren of Telou Chana and said that there were three persons in the vehicle including brother of Premjit.
When enquired about using `Press`™ sticker on the vehicle, the three individuals confessed that they do not belong to any media houses.
Later, they were handed over to Imphal Police Station for further necessary action, the president of AMWJU said.
He appealed to the people to not use `Press`™ sticker in their vehicles without any authorization to avoid misunderstanding between police and media persons who are disseminating daily information to the masses against all odds.
He also informed that AMWJU is going to provide genuine `Press`™ sticker with AMWJU hologram to working journalists to authenticate themselves.
