BJP seeks vote recounting for 5-Irang pt II DCC

IMPHAL, June 13: The Bhaharatiya Janata party (BJP) Manipur will file a petition in the court regarding the counting of the 5- Irang part II District Council Constituency said L Basanta Sharma, BJP State general secretary during a press conference held today at the BJP, head office today.

Alleging that the Congress had manipulated the vote counting, he said his party condemns such violation of law.

He said the BJP candidate had received 1083 votes, while Congress received only 1077 votes, NPF 876 and the Independent candidate received only 785 votes while another 69 votes were rejected.

Basanta further claimed that the concern Returning Officer had himself informed the BJP candidate of his win following which the candidate was waiting outside the counting station for about three hours to receive the win certificate.

He failed to receive the certificate that day, according to Basanta.

However, on the next day, the candidate learnt that the certificate has been given to the Congress candidate instead, he alleged.

He demanded a recounting of the votes and said there are many evidences which proves that the agents of all candidates including that of the Congress had accepted the BJP win.
