IMPHAL, Jun 6: Along with producing Irom Chanu Sharmila before the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at the complex of Patiala House Court, Delhi today in connection with a case registered against her, deposition of one of the doctors who gave medical treatment to the anti-AFSPA crusader after she was arrested by Parliament Street Police for staging a hunger strike protest at Jantar Mantar in October, 2006 was also taken during the hearing of the case.
Sources said as per an order of the court, deposition of two doctors who gave medical treatment to Sharmila and an official of Delhi Police who recorded statements given by the anti-AFSPA crusader while in police custody was to be taken before the court today. Since one of the doctors and the police official failed to turn up, deposition of only one doctor was taken.
The court has fixed final hearing of the case on August 11 and 12. Sharmila will be leaving Delhi for Imphal tomorrow early morning in an Indigo flight.
It may be mentioned that Irom Chanu Sharmila had left Imphal for the court appearance on June 4.
