TAMENGLONG, June 16: In solidarity to the demands made by All Tribal Students`™ Union Manipur (ATSUM) to the government including setting up of a commission for the tribal, regularization of the contractual teachers in higher secondary schools in the hill districts and increase in reservation in the admission and appointment for tribal in Manipur University, volunteers of Zeliangrong Students`™ Union Tamenglong District (ZSUTD) locked Tamenglong Government Higher Secondary School today.
The enraged volunteers of ZSUTD also closed down Tengkonjang Government Higher Secondary School, Noney and Khangsinlung Government Higher Secondary School, Khoupum.
It may be mentioned that the state government had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ATSUM in October 2014 regarding the demands put up by the union.
The ATSUM supported by Churachandpur District Students`™ Union had closed down two government higher secondary schools in Churachandpur in pursuance of its demands.
Meanwhile, volunteers and representatives of the All Tribal Student Union Manipur also locked down the Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School Japhou in Chandel district as part of thier agitation against the government`™s inability to meet thier demands.
