Missing villagers found safe in jungle

IMPHAL, June 10: Four villagers of Tonsen Khullen village whose whereabouts remained traceless after the deadly ambush laid by underground cadres on 6 Dogra Regiment near Paraolon village under Tengnoupal Police Station, Chandel district on June 4 killing 18 personnel and injuring 16 others, have been found in a jungle safe and sound yesterday.

Reports said the villagers were found in Phiral Machet jungle near Phiral Khullen under Chandel Police Station. They have been identified as K Rajmani Kom, 55 son of Late Thonglen Kom; Y Mandana Kom, 39 son of Y Ibochou Kom; Yumnam Koireng, 30 son of Y Ibochou Singh and Sr Koko Kom, 29 son of Sr Sanahongba Kom.

All of them have been handed over to their families after they were brought safe and sound yesterday around 10 pm.

A massive hunt was launched by villagers of Tonsen Khullen using loudspeakers after they failed to return back ever since the four villagers went out of their houses on June 3 for fishing, the reports stated.
