More allegations of booth capture during ADC election

IMPHAL, June 8: Congress candidate from 16-Awangkhul District Council Constituency BT Guijonang`™s chief agent has alleged the BJP candidate and his supporters of booth capture and rigging of votes in three polling stations of his constituency using brute force during the June 1 ADC voting.

Speaking at a press conference, the chief agent G Pouhomgai said BJP supporters and workers had captured the polling booths at the three polling stations of 16/8 Langkhong with 691 voters, 16/3 Shingra with 460 voters and 16/4 Kajinglong with 201 voters. The BJP volunteers had also denied the Congress polling agent to enter the booth, he claimed.

This is not free and fair election, he said asserting further that the matter is now with the Manipur High Court as the State Election Office has failed to look into the issue.

He continued they have proper evidence of the incident and both the polling officer and security commander of 16/4 Kajinglong Polling Station have also verified the complaint.

He said the State Election Office and the District Election Officer have already been informed but no action has been taken up despite the complaint.

He further alleged workers of the BJP candidate Kanilianmei had kidnapped the chairman of SHingva Village Kinguibou, vice chairman Apilei and youth president Wanjinglung on poll day along with the Congress candidate`™s father BT Lunglaimang and Kabui Khullen chairman BT Maliangkorang for supporting the Congress candidate.

Continuing tha even the NPF candidate has also made a similar complaint to the commission, he further appealed to the State Election Office to review the incident and announce the voting at the three polling stations as null and void.

Congress candidate BT Guijonang also attended the press conference held at Manipur Press Club.
