IMPHAL, July 11: Demanding immediate withdrawal of the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015 and its replacement by another strong bill to effectively monitor the rampant entry of outsiders into the State, locals of Heingang took out a torch rally and tried to storm the residence of MLA of Heingang Constituency N Biren at Luwangsangbam this late evening.

During the rally, the agitators shouted slogans such as `implement ILPS in the state`™, `safeguard the indigenous people`™, `long live Manipur`™ etc.

However, the protestors were stopped by security personnel at Khabam Leikai. There, a scuffle broke out between them. After the protestors declined to retreat back, police resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse them.
