IMPHAL, Jul 11: A man died when he came in contact with a live electric wire at Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai under Imphal Police Station this morning around 6:30.
The deceased has been identified as Heikrujam Modhusudon Singh, 60 son of Late H Bijoy Singh of Uchiwa Leirak Achouba under Mayang Imphal Police Station.
Police sources said Modhusudon Singh a retired personnel of Manipur Rifles was presently working as a private security guard for Maibam Joykishore Singh of Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai.
He had obtained voluntary retirement from his Manipur Rifles service.
In the early morning, he saw an electric wire lying on the street.
Sources also said that when he touched the high voltage wire with his hand unknowingly, he was electrocuted and died on the spot.
The body has been handed over to the deceased`™s family after performing post motem at RIMS morgue.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident, the sources added.
