IMPHAL, August 4: The Wangoi Kendra Development Committee has strongly appealed to the concern authority to take up necessary actions at the earliest to clear the confusion over the Manipur Legislative Assembly member of Wangoi constituency, said spokesperson of the council, W Jiten Singh.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference at the Manipur Press Club, he said it has been two months since the seat has remained vacant.
The Wangoi Kendra Development Committee also appealed the Election Commission to give its public mandate and also bring amicable solution for the people of Wangoi.
Recounting the turn of events leading to the present confusion, he said Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee, president, Th Shyamkumar filed a petition seeking disqualification against Wangoi Kendra Trinamool leader who was also the MLA O Lukhoi under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution on July 4, 2014 following which the Speaker Tribunal disqualified him on May 27 this year and the seat announced to be vacant on May 31.
Later O Lukhoi joined the BJP, he added.
Now the High Court has said that O Lukhoi has the right to enter the assembly till August 19 but no voting right is given to him.
So the Wangoi Kendra Developing Committee earnestly appealed the concern authority to solve the confusion at the earliest.
