IMPHAL, August 18: A vehicle carrying cement bags was damaged by agitators at Kakwa Sairon Leirak today for defying a general strike.
The Youth Welfare Club, Ningomthong Sairon Leirak had organised an agitation demanding the ILPS in the State in their locality since early morning today.
Volunteers had stopped the vehicle a Tata Ace Zip carrying cement around 7:30am and called the owner of the truck for talks. However, a labourer and the driver left the vehicle and ran away following which the volunteers damaged the vehicle.
Sources also identified the owner of the vehicle as Ningombam Somerendro of Ningomthong Kitna Pung.
