KANGPOKPI, Sep. 5: Joint Action Committee for the Protection of Tribal and Minority People`™s Right, Jiribam was formed in a joint meeting of the Hmar, Paite, Thadou-Kuki and Bengali (Hindu&Muslim) student bodies and various social organization of Jiribam at Buthangkhal yesterday and decided to call a 48 hr vehicles bandh along Silchar-Imphal Highway and Jiribam-Tipaimukh Road from 6 am of September 7.
A press statement of the newly formed JAC signed by its Chairman R. Hmar said that as desired by the student bodies and various social organization in the joint meeting decided and formed the JAC for the Protection of Tribal and Minority People`™s Right, Jiribam while minutely discussing the three controversial bills and strongly resisted it.
The joint meeting also resolved to observe a Candle Lit Vigil at 6:30 pm today in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in the protest.
R. Hmar continued that the Joint Action Committee for the Protection of Tribal and Minority People`™s Right, Jiribam has also decided to called 48 hr vehicles bandh along Silchar-Imphal Highway and Jiribam-Tipaimukh Road from 6 am of September 7 against the passing of the three controversial bills.
Medical, religious duties, emergency service and media will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
While urging all the tribal communities and Bengali (Hindu&Muslim) to cooperatively participated in the Candle Lit Vigil service the JAC also appeals to invest utmost help in the bandh.
