A good political system required to encourage healthy relationship among communities: Kh Mani

IMPHAL, November 30: The 68th Anniversary of Ching Tam Apunba Meepham was observed by the Irawat Celebration Committee, today at Manipur Dramatic Union.

Speaking at the occasion, Senior Advocate, Khaidem Mani said that to build up a healthy relationship between hills and valley a good political system is very much needed even as there is no good governance.

Despite the constant threat to sabotage the territorial and emotional integrity of the State by some vested individuals or groups, he is confident that the strong bond of brotherhood between hills and plain that has been in existence since time immemorial cannot be compromised easily.

Secretary general of Janata Dal (United), Len Gangte said that the hardship faced during the lifetime of Hijam Irawat must not be forgotten by the people of present generation as it is vital for building a stronger nation in the future.

During his lifetime Irawat had done tremendous work for the welfare of people and to build a good future likewise build a stronger relation the present generation must follow his footsteps, he said.

Delivering the keynote address L Sotinkumar said that the recent disturbing episodes which unfolded in the State is the manifestation to necessitate a retrospection of all the indigenous populace who have shared both triumph and tragedy during the evolving course of Manipur history.

To co-exist harmoniously with a common future and destiny the people need to reopen the great legacy of Hijiam Irawat for a cohesive Manipur.

He recalled that on November 30, 1947 under the sagacious leadership and guidance of the Jananeta Hijam Irawat that the leaders of the political, religious, nationalist movement and civil societies of different spectrum of people dwelling in hill and plain eagerly gathered together and had put the collective mind and discourse amongst each other for a firm resolution to maintain the unity and integrity of our common ancestral.

The history sustained its omnipotence with glittering relevance in its entirety towards a resolute stance, he said and added that in the midst of its month-long activities during September of this year the result to undergo deeper of the meeting for the harmonious co-existence of all the indigenous populace in the State with a blend of Manipuri nationalism.
