IMPHAL, Nov 6: The Standing Committee of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) convened a meeting this late evening and strongly condemned the assault on reporter of Impact TV AK Tompok and cameraperson Irom Mocha by Potsangbam Albinokumar, HOD, Civil Engineering of NIT Manipur at Lamphelpat.
According to a press release of AMWJU, Albinokumar assaulted the two journalists who went to cover news of altercation between teachers and students of the institute today around 4.40 pm.
It claimed that Albinokumar not only pushed the journalists but also snatched camera from Irom Mocha.
Terming the incident as unfortunate, AMWJU in the release demanded the teacher to clarify his indecent act at the earliest.
The union will not take the incident lightly, it added.
