IMPHAL, November 29: Prominent folk singer of Manipur, Guru Rewben Mashangva was selected and performed at the ‘4th International Edition of the Handshake Concert’ under the banner ‘India-China Handshake Concert’ representing the State and India on November 27.
The concert was organized by the Foreign Affairs and Overseas China Affairs Office Kunming Municipal People’s Government at the historic Kunming Theater, Kunming City, Yunnan Province China.
Narrating about the venture of performing in the ‘4th International Edition of the Handshake Concert’ to media person at Manipur Press Club today, he said that the concert was a success and received an overwhelming response from the audience despite some technical problem occurred with the sound during his performances.
The aim and objective of the Handshake Concert aspires to bring the world closer.
Moreover, it was to provide all participants/performers and audiences a platform to better appreciate each other’s culture, he said and added that the event is also aimed at spreading a positive cultural image of our State and country before the international community.
Guru Rewben further said that the past participants from India and other participating countries have used the opportunity of the Handshake Concert to broaden their horizon, expand their networks and add new scope to artist careers and aspirations.
Moreover, many artists and performers both Indian and nationalities of other countries have gone on to perform at many more national and international events after gaining recognition through the Handshake Concert.
Rewben Mashangva appealed to the State government to give more emphasis and support to the local artistes.
The appreciation and support from the people and government is very less, he lamented urging the people to appreciate and support the artistes.
He also appealed not to give any disturbance or obstruction towards artistes and sports personalities in their work because it will depress the artistic way of culture.
