Attack on journo condemned

IMPHAL, December 10: The Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU) has strongly condemned the unwarranted attack on Journalist Bruce Thangkhal at Chakarpur in Gurgaon Saturday evening by some local thugs after throwing lewd abuses.

Physical forces and discrimination can never bring love, understanding and peace to the Indian society. The unprovoked bashing of Bruce Thangkhal just by his racial features is highly condemnable.

On top of that we are at pain to think of the unwillingness of the local people to help the victim when he was continuously bashed up mercilessly at the glaring view of the public. This is unthinkable in a religious country like India where leaders preach of communal harmony across the globe. We appeal for sanity so that there is no racial discrimination in India. We thank God that he survived the attack but we also fervently appeal to the Gurgaon police to immediately book the culprit into justice.

Bruce K.Thangkhal who hails from Churachanpur in Manipur is the Delhi Correspondent of The Zogam Today, a Churachanpur based daily news papers, a part from being the media incharge of Delhi’s North East Support Centre & Helpline. He is also a Press Identity Card holder of Manipur government and a member of Manipur Hill Journalists Union.

We also beseech to Manipur Government to look into the matter so that the racial attacker does not go scot free.
