IMPHAL, December 12: There should no politicisation of the various development projects to be taken up in the Thangmeiband constituency, MLA Khumukcham Joykishan said today.
Speaking as the chief guest of the 6th Foundation Day observation of the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation celebration cum grand reception of newly elected MLA of BJP at Marwali Dharmasala today, he said the Congress had used several means including money and muscle power to defeat the BJP candidates in the recent by-election in the two Assembly constituencies of Thongju and Thangmeiband.
He said the Congress attempt was thwarted by the strong will of the TKDO volunteer in his constituency.
However, inspite of whether someone voted for him or the other candidates, the development in Thangmeiband should be enjoyed by all the people of the constituencies, he said.
The MLA is not only for those who voted for him, but for everyone, he added.
He said to encourage development in the bazar area, a new body called the Bazar Community Forum will be constituted soon.
This forum will monitor all the serious grievances of the people of the bazar area and will aim to bring development in the area in the near future, he added.
Identifying lack of drinking water to be the main grievances of the area, he said a team of the PHED will conduct a survey of the area soon under his guidance.
Development in the constituency will aim to bring peace and unity among the different communities, he said.
He continued development of Thangmeiband is his first priority and further urged the people to support him without politicising the issue in realising his dream of a developed Thangmeiband.
He further appealed to the people against creating any hindrance or disturbances to the progress of the constituency.
If he can get the people’s support and love, he will soon develop Cheirao Ching into a tourist destination.
He also claimed that during his recent visit to the national capital, he had met the Union Minister of Health and urged him to upgrade RIMS further, at which the Union Minister had advised him and the Thongju MLA who was also in the meeting to submit a detailed report about the hospital so that it could be upgraded.
He said they had also met with the Union Minister of Road Transport and urged him to monitor the development of NH-37 or the Imphal-Jiribam Highway as even after a long time under the Border Road Organisation, there is still not much development in the highway.
