MSCW celebrates 9th foundation day

IMPHAL, December 12: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) celebrated its 9th foundation day at Kuranga Hall, Imphal West DC office complex today.

Speaking at the celebration function as chief guest, PHED and Labour & Employment Minister Irengbam Hemochandra said that women have been shouldering a significant role in shaping the society since time immemorial.

He further said that women of the State are well known for their distinguished role and dedication in core issues confronting the State.

Status of women in the State is placed at the pedestal and honoured with much respect, he acknowledged.

He maintained that Manipur Commission for Women has been coping with many untoward incidents such as rape, molest, torture etc since the last nine years.

Stating that anyone who violates the commission should make its presence by taking action against accused, he stressed on the need for organizing awareness progamme on women welfare in different parts of the State from time to time.

Minister Hemochandra appealed to the people to extend support to the commission in various works taken up to strengthen women society in the State.
