KSO SH alleges government attempt to encroach on L Tangnaum land

KANGPOKPI, December 18: Kuki Students’ Organization, Sadar Hills today cautioned the state Government and concerned department to bring to a halt the alleged attempt to encroach the land of L. Tangnaum village in Sadar Hills.

KSO Sadar Hills alleged that the state Government including various departments as well as some valley based civil societies organization has been trying to encroached the land of L. Tangnaum through various menacing plans time after time.

Recently, on December 15, Sekmai AC MLA along with Lamsang SDC visited L Tangnaum and a measurement was taken in the said area in the presence of State police commandos alleged Thangminlen Kipgen president, KSO Sadar Hills before adding that the measurement is said to be done to lengthen the boundary of Imphal West by encroaching the land of Sadar Hills.

Thangminlen continued that earlier L Tangnaum land has been attempted to encroach in name of development like Sports University, cultural university, etc. and even it had been blatantly claimed to be Koutruk land.

How could Sekmai MLA and Lamsang SDC have such authority to conducted measurement of land in a place which is not under their jurisdiction and without the knowledge of the concerned administration? wondered Thangminlen Kipgen while adding that we are not please with the conduct of the MLA and Lamsang SDC who have intentionally performed menacing activities in land of Sadar Hills.

KSO Sadar Hills leader also said that L Tangnaum Village which is earlier known as Haraothel is genuinely under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub Division in Sadar Hills District Administration and regularly pay hill house tax from Saitu-Gamphazol block.

People of Sadar Hills will never tolerate such calculated plans of the state Government and various organizations to deliberately acquire the land of Sadar Hills said Thangminlen Kipgen while adding that they should avoid taking advantages of the festive season in creating unsolicited environment towards L. Tangnaum village in particular and Sadar Hills in general.

The student body also urged the elected members of Sadar Hills and administrators to take appropriate action towards illegal encroachers of Sadar Hills land and also initiate proper measures to stop once and for all such disorder in future.
