IMPHAL, Dec 7: MEELAL and Meetei National Front (MNF) will jointly observe the 9th death anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba on January 22, 2016 at Rupmahal Theatre, BT Road.
This was informed at a press meet held this morning at the MEELAL office by the organizers.
The organizers also informed that as a part of the observation, a `heikat-leikat tamba` ceremony will be held in the morning at Wakha Leima Ching, were the last rite of the leader was performed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
The programmes of the day include patriotic poetry competition for students of class 3 to 6, 7 to 10 and 11 and above. A play titled `Lambelsigee Aroibada` written by Late Chingsubam Akaba will be shown.
On this day, Zibita Okram, daughter of Okram Jiban and Bijaya of Kakwa Makha Nameirakpam Leikai, of Little Flower School, who scored the highest mark in the Manipuri Subject (Meetei Mayek) in Matric exam, will be awarded a certificate, a memento and a cash prize of Rs 20 thousand. This award is sponsored by MLA N Biren.
MEELAL will also present an award to one tribal student and one Meetei Pangal student, who scored the highest mark in Meetei Mayek in Matric Exam 2015.
This year`™s `Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Mana, 2016` will be awarded to Ngasekpam Yumjao Meetei and Tomithang Kom, Khullakpa of Echum Kom Keirap.
