NHM mission director launches 3rd round of Phase II of Mission Indradhanush

IMPHAL, December 11: Mission Director National Health Mission, Manipur Dr O Ibomcha today launched an immunization programme under the banner ‘Mission Indradhanush’, Phase II – 3rd round for children in age group 0 to 2 years.

The immunization programme will continue till December 23.

After launching the programme inside his office chamber, Ibomcha said that the department has already identified 744 locations in four districts of the State where the 3rd round will be undertaken.

The four districts are Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Chandel, he said, adding further that children from other districts who were left out in the previous rounds may avail the immunization in these districts.

He said 11,456 infants under the age of 2 years and 4020 pregnant women have been identified in these districts to be immunized during the round.

The programme will be conducted by 730 ASHA workers and 308 ANMs with help from some back up and monitoring staff, he added.

State nodal officer Th Nandakishore Singh while supplementing the director said that the ongoing Phase II of the immunization process will be under focus of the Centre as it had identified 352 districts from across the country for the programme.

He said the phase II of the Mission was launched on October 5, 2012 by the Union health Minister JP Nadda under the theme ‘Full Immunization is every child’s right.’

He said by 2020 India will able to immunize 90 percent or above of the children.
