IMPHAL, December 8: The Public Accounts Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly has initiated steps to look into the financial irregularities in the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department.
On getting information about the PAC concern over the financial irregularities in the department, the IFP contacted PAC chairman MLA Dr I Ibohalbi Singh to confirm the report.
Confirming the report, Dr Ibohalbi said investigation into the anomalies was initiated on December 7 based on reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
Once the investigation is completed, we will also conduct spot inquiries if necessary, the chairman said.
At the same time, PAC is not only investigation the V&AH department, but we are also conducting similar investigations of other departments, he maintained.
And spot enquiries will be conducted once the investigations are complete, he informed.
It may be mentioned that the State Governor has been appealed on two counts to form a High-powered Committee to investigate into the financial irregularities in the department which have been established by the CAG report.
The first appeal was made on October 22 and the second on November 2.
