IMPHAL, Dec 11: Meitei Pangal women also played significant role in the 1st and 2nd Nupi Lal, however, the role has not been acknowledged till date, lamented chief advisor of Women Society of Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) Political Forum, Manipur Janav AR Khan.
He was speaking at observation of 76th Nupi Lal Memorial Celebration, 2015 organized by the forum at Manipur Press Club here today.
Janav AR Khan stated that Meitei Pangal women have been involving in core issues pertaining to the State since time immemorial.
Meitei Pangal women have also been supporting movements launched by Meitei women folk for security and integrity of the State but due to absence of proper documentation, the undeniable contribution has not been reflected in the history of the State, he said.
Noting the leadership of Meitei Pangal women in the Nupi Lal which broke out twice in the State, the chief advisor claimed that four Meitei Pangal women namely Sajou Bibi, Shara Bibi, Tombi Bibi and Garam Bibi took active part in the historic women’s agitation for the cause of mankind.

Observing that 3rd Nupi Lal is in need to fight against corruption, favouritism and nepotism practice in the State, he pointed out that rich people are suppressing the poor people in the present era which needs to be eradicated.
He added that sense of belongingness and lovingness has been affected due to such categorization in the State.
