IIIT Manipur and 33/11 KV sub-station foundations laid in Saitu A/C

KANGPOKPI, January 13: State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Manipur and 33/11 KV Power Sub-Station at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham under Saitu AC in Sadar Hills, Senapati district.

The Chief Minister unveiled the foundation stones in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam; IFC, Printing & Stationery minister Ngamthang Haokip and RD&PR, Eco. & Statistics minister, Francis Ngajokpa.

Sekmai AC MLA Debendro, Karong AC MLA Alexander Pao, ADC Sadar Hills chairman Haokholal Hangshing, chairman ADC Senapati ML. Markson, MDCs, Prof. AK Das, Director, IIIT Manipur, DC Senapati Jacintha Lazarus and various DLOs from Sadar Hills and Senapati also attended the function apart from various CSOs within Senapati including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, NPO, KSO, SDSA, etc.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister said that prolonged bandhs, blockades, strikes, etc. in the State imposed by numerous JACs pause many developmental works undertaken by the State government apart from breeding instability in the State.

He continued that such JAC’s incessant agitations also raise intimidation not only to the people of Manipur but even to many people from outside the State and become a huge predicament in various development aspects.

“The government is fed up with the JAC culture”, asserted the Chief Minister while appealing to the people of Manipur to stop forming JACs in future and rather initiate an attempt to solve whatsoever problems in the speediest way through negotiation.

He said that the Indian Institute of Information Technology at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham will provide tremendous advantages to many youths of the district in particular and the State as a whole whose intelligence are in line with the IT sector.

He urged the local populace to cooperate and be a pool of resources towards the establishment of the IIIT Manipur so as to make the IT sector bloom not only in North East but the entire South East Asian region.

Wishing the people of Senapati a happy and prosperous new year on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam significantly emphasized on the importance of peace in bringing development and changes in the society.

“Where there is peace, unity and love there always is development”, pointed out the Dy CM and further added that development never flourishes in a place where there is no peace and tranquillity.

While lauding the state Chief Minister in setting up the IIIT Manipur at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham, Gaikhangam said that the IIIT Manipur could be achieved with the keen and personal interest of the State Chief Minister on the issue while it is not an easy task to get such achievement.

Minister Francis Ngajokpa and Ngamthang Haokip also spoke on the occasion and encourage the spirit of unity and brotherhood in bringing sustainable development.

Cultural dance and folk song from various community marked the occasion.
