KANGPOKPI, January 12: People of Kangpokpi mourned the untimely demise of Dr. Mangminlen Khongsai, Jr Scientist NEIST, Jorhat who breathed his last yesterday at Kangpokpi.
His mortal remains, was brought from Dimapur to his home at Thangkanphai village in Saikul.
Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills organized a reception ceremony of the dead body at Kanggui Christian Church Campus where tears-wiping tea was served and the mortal remains wrapped with ‘Saipikhup’ – a Thadou traditional shawl by various civil society organizations including KISH, KSO, KWU, KTC, KWWO, KYU, and GUDUP.
Individuals, friends, colleagues, dear and love ones were also present at the ceremony.
While expressing deep sorrow on the demise of Dr. Mangminlun Khongsai, president of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Seikhomang Khongsai said that the Kuki community in particular and the nation as a whole have lost another treasure of the society with the demise of Dr Mangminlun Khongsai.
Pastor J. Lunkim, Chairman of Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship invoked condolence prayer while consoling the bereaved family with words of Gospel and for speedy recovery of the deceased wife.
The deceased Dr. Mangminlun Khongsai was a scientist in the Department of Biotechnology at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam.
His wife Dr. Esther Chinneilhing is an Asst. Prof. of Education in G.P. Women’s’ College.
Dr. Mangminlun Khongsai died in a road accident on January 10 afternoon at Bokajan area in Assam.
The incident took place when the deceased and his family were travelling along the highway towards Tezpur from Manipur on the fateful day and met the accident.
Dr. Mangminlun died on the spot and his wife sustained severe injuries.
The deceased did his Ph.D. in the Department of Botany, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He also did research on Microbial ecology, Microbial enzyme & technology.
