IMPHAL, January 11: Wide Angle Social Development Organization, working for the inalienable rights of children in the State organized a children’s exposure cum tour programme today.
A press note of the organization informed that the flagging off programme was graced by Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai Devi and local club leaders of Sagolband Moiranghanuba Leikai at the office of Wide Angle.
Delivering welcome and key note address, secretary of Wide Angle Montu Ahanthem who is also the convener of Manipur Alliance for Child Rights shared the objective of organizing the programme which envisioned towards promoting communal harmony and emotional integrity among the different ethnic communities of the State.
He said that many children from different communities came forward to express their thoughts, which would strengthen the integrity of the State and create a recreation venue to reduce the trauma and fear psychosis due to the recent earthquake that shocked the State.
The tour was taken part by around 200 children from the earthquake affected areas of Senapati and Imphal West district.
Speaking at the function, Minister Mirabai stressed on the need for giving knowledge and ideas to the young generation for ensuring justice and development of the society.
She also emphasized the need for collective approach from different sections of the society and child rights activists to explore the talents and knowledge of the children.
Observing that the tour will help in learning new knowledge about the rich cultures and heritage of the State, the Minister asserted that the Social Welfare Department is taking up various programmes for children under ICDS & ICPS programme.
She assured that the Department will support any such programme taken up by the organization which is for the welfare of the children.
Minister Mirabai also donated a sum of Rs 10, 000 to the programme organizer. Later, she flagged off the buses and wished all the children a very happy journey.
