IMPHAL, January 11: The Corporate Social Response programme of Sky Hospital extended medical support to recent tremor affected populace of Noney in Tamenglong district today.
A team of the hospital led by MD Shyamuel Lairikyengbam and including a medicine doctor, a surgery doctor, two staff nurses and two medical attendants conducted the relief camp in association with Manipur Heart Foundation.
The relief camp was conducted at Noney Part I availing medical care to villagers from all parts of Noney Part I to V and bazaar area. As part of the camp, seven bags of rice, two bags of dal, two bags of salt and 500 litres of drinking water were also distributed to the needy.
The visiting team was also accompanied by an ambulance.
Shyamuel while interacting with the media team accompanying the team said that although the tremor had affected the State capital Imphal also, his team was more worried of the epicentre and the surrounding areas considering the magnitude of the earthquake which is recorded to be 6.8 on the Richter scale.
He said he wanted to provide some medical support within their capacity to the affected and help them as little as they could.
The young MD also called for support from other entrepreneurs of the State including brick firms, textile companies and others to extend all possible help according to their capacities.
He continued he and his team will next visit Senapati with the same objective.
Around 116 villagers were provided medical help during today’s camp.
Nongmai (Noney) Village authority chairman Meiduan Gangmei expressed his happiness on receiving the medical team and said that it is the second medical visit from the State capital since the January 4 quake.
He said that Noney has more than 4270 villagers and the recent earth quake had badly affected many of them.
He said he is grateful to the visiting doctors and medical staff for the concern towards them.
