Table-calendar featuring 12 renowned writers released

IMPHAL, January 25: The Sahitya Thoupang Lup today released its third Table-calendar featuring 12 renowned writers of the State during a simple function at the Manipur Press Club.

The inaugural function was attended by Arts and Culture commissioner K Radhakumar as chief guest, Critic Forum president Prof IS Kangjam as president and Manipur University Manipuri Department HoD Prof N Aruna as guest of honour.

The writers featuring in the calendar are Leitanthem Ram Singh (1923-1979), Rajkumar Surendrajit Singh (1925-1982), Hijam Guno Singh (1926-2010), Shijagurumayum Nilabir Sharma (1927-2005), Sarangthem Bormani Singh (1928-2013), Elangbam Rajanikanta Singh (1930-2000), Kangjam Padmakumar Singh (1934-2009), Bachaspatimayum Jayantakumar Sharma (1935-2015), Arambam Somorendra (1935-2000), Rajkumar Mani Singh (1939-2004), Rajkumar Madhubir (1942-2004) and

Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum (1953-2003).

Delivering the key note address, Sahitya Thoupang convenor Saratchand Thiyam stressed on the importance of disseminating the profile briefs of the imminent writers featured in the calendar in acknowledgement of their dedication to their works.

Radhakumar while appreciating the effort of Sahitya Thoupang Lup in bringing out the table calendar that simultaneously educates the people about the selfless services of the writers also urged the people to have a more futuristic vision in writings.

Meanwhile, family members of all the 12 writers were also presented with a copy of the calendar each.

The families on their part showered wishes to the Sahitya Thoupang Lup for its initiative.
