IMPHAL, January 13: As a part of the Road Safety week, the Department of Transport, Government of Manipur along with Web of Life (WOL) Media is organising a Walkathon on January 15.
In a statement WOL Media said that the Walkathon aims to promote responsible and sustainable township that will provide its citizens with close networks of pedestrian walk ways (foot paths).
Moreover, the event is also awareness campaign to direct motor vehicles users to respect the pedestrian and know that they have the rights to the roads, it continued.
It further informed that the Walkathon will constitute a marched from the old secretariat to the BT-Park using the foot path provided for pedestrian, thereby promoting walking as a means of safe and healthy transport in the city corridors.
It notified that interested candidate to arrive at Bengali High School at 8.30 am as the Walkathon is to be flagged off at 9.30 am.
