IMPHAL, February 13: BJP national general secretary coordination and in charge of the North Eastern States Ram Madhop today announced that election process for the BJP Manipur president would be initiated within two to three-week time; however, the incumbent president will continue till then.

Speaking to media persons today during a press conference held at the BJP Manipur office, Madhop said the party’s national leaders will soon depute two to three officials to meet the BJP Manipur leaders before initiating the election process.

The party has 12 district councils in the State of which organisational election has been already conducted in nine councils, he said.

Once this process is over, we will initiate process of conducting the presidential election, he said.

He said although the tenure of the present president had ended in December 2015, he was made to continue considering the Municipal Council election in the State which was held in January this year.

The party in charge of the North Eastern States also said once the court announces its decision on the Sanjit killing case, the party will take befitting action against any member found guilty in the case.

Madhop had earlier met several senior leaders and newly elected councillors of the party and office bearers before the press conference.

He said it is very shocking to hear of the extra-judicial killings allowed by the State government and it is for the State government to take the blame for fake encounters.

He said that the matter is before the court and everyone found guilty should be punished so that such incidents are not committed again.

He further assured that the BJP will expose corruption practices of the State government.
