IMPHAL, Feb 1: A high-level team of the Central Bureau of Investigation led by a Deputy Inspector General will arrive here in Imphal tomorrow in connection with the ongoing session trial of the BT Road Killing case before the court of the District and Sessions Judge/ Manipur West.
According to sources, the CBI team which will be led by a DIG, who is the agency’s in charge of the North East, will be receive by officials of the CBI’s Imphal unit at the Imphal Airport.
Soon after their arrival the team accompanied by the Imphal based officials will directly go to the court of the District and Sessions Judge/ Manipur West at the Cheirap Court Complex.
According to the sources, court proceedings will start from 10:30am tomorrow for deposition of prosecution witnesses who are yet to be examined, starting from PW No 75 to those present during tomorrow’s trial.
Although the actual motive of the visiting CBI team is not known immediately, it is speculated that the team will take up the necessary legal proceedings following the recent confession of an accused of the case, Manipur Police head constable Thounaojam Herojit regarding his part in the killing of Sanjit.
