IMPHAL, Feb 27: The six elected Congress councilors of Moirang Municipal Council have blamed concerned SDO Moirang for conducting the lucky draw today for the council’s chairperson’s post after both the Congress and the BJP were tied with six elected councillor each in the 12 councillor council.
In this connection, the six Congress councillors called a press briefing in Imphal. Councillor K Memthoi Devi said from the beginning we have opposed the conduct of lucky draw for the chairperson and vice-chairperson seats.
But the RO Moirang conducted the lucky draw while the elected Congress councilors were discussing the issue outside around 5:30 pm and declared the BJP candidates as winners, she said.
She said they will take legal help in this matter.
