Freedom fighter Ima Rajani remembered

IMPHAL, February 11: Freedom fighter Ima Rajani who was also a Tamra Patra Awardee was today remembered on her 26th Death Anniversary by the Nupee Lal Memorial Association at Nupee- Lal Memorial Complex.

Steering Committee of Nupee Lal Memorial Association secretary Longjamba Meitei Netaji that Ima Rajani was one of the courageous women who led the Nupilal movement of 1939, 1980 and 1981.

She had played an important role in protesting and revolting against the British, he said.

He continued, while she was alive, Ima Rajani had always stressed on the importance of the Nupilal movement in the history of the Manipuri society and wanted the people of the State to always remember the movement.

He said the day is being observed remembering Ima Rajani’s sacrifices.

Prizes were also distributed to winners of the eighth State level Nupilal memorial Patriotic during today’s commemoration.

The winners are Kanchan Nahakpam, Santhanganbi, Loidangton Amakcham in Group A and Ch Kishan Kumar, Alice Khongbantabam, Chanchan Nahakpam in group B.
