Selfless ideals of Ima Kombi recounted on her 12th death anniversary

IMPHAL, February 1: The Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur today paid homage to their departed leader, Ima Kombi on her 12th death anniversary at Lamphel Sana Keithel, Imphal.

As a mark of respect floral tribute were paid to the portrait of the Meira Paibi leader by the dignitaries and invitees present in the observation. Speaking at the function, president of Nupi Khunai Meira Paibi, Wairokpam Mangol appealed that there is a need to strengthen Meira Paibi movement in the state in order to fight the atrocities committed by armed forces.

She recounted the role played by Ima Kombi during her life time for the welfare of the people, adding that she was a fearless leader who stood for the rights of the people. While emphasising on the importance of the upcoming February 6 mass rally being organised by a conglomerate of civil organisations in the state, Mangol appealed that every individual should take part keeping in mind of the future generation. The rally is a crucial one which would show the unity of the people cutting across all communities residing in the state, she said.

President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur, Longjam Memchoubi in her speech appealed that the present day Meira Paibis should follow the footstep of Ima Kombi, who was selfless and upright. Stressing on the effort to build the aged-old brotherhood of hill and plain people, Memchoubi also maintained that the need of the hour is to repeal AFSPA, and a 3rd Nupi Lan is called for to materialise it.

She also appealed to the people to take part in the mass rally scheduled to be held on February 6.
