Accident disrupts traffics along NH-2 over 8 hours, driver fusses over escort party

KANGPOKPI, March 20: In a widespread escorted tanker accident along the National Highway 2, an LPG bullet tanker capsized early this morning at around 3 am near Kangpokpi Bridge and disrupted the traffic flow along the highway for nearly 8 hours.

The handyman of the ill-feted tanker bearing Regd. No. MN03T – 1099 sustained minor injury in the accident.

The LPG bullet tanker was one among the escorted tanker by CRPF heading towards the state capital from Dimapur side.

Police immediately cordoned off the area as a preventive measure since anything could happen due to the ill-feted tanker carrying a Liquefied Petroleum Gas while the police personnel also halt vehicle movement along the highway apart from the tanker blocking greater part the road.

It took more than one and half hour to recover the tanker by the two recovery cranes called from the state capital and personnel of Fire Sub Station, Kangpokpi with the assistance of police personnel and tanker personnel.

Traffic resume as usual only after the recovery of the ill-feted bullet at around 11:30 am.

The accident is suspected to have been occurred due to heavy-eyed on the part of the driver.

A tanker driver who is also among the escorted tanker halt at the site due to the accident complaint that most of the driver develop drowsy due to the long journey without any rest or break.

He also bellyache the escort party for forcefully taking them without giving any rest or break while adding that the ill-feted tanker driver disclosed his drowsiness after the incident.
