Confrontation over Yongchak closes down international border

MOREH, March 16: A confrontation between traders parkia speciosa (tree bean) known as yonchak from Moreh in Manipur and Namphalong in Myanmar led to a brief closure of the international border today.

The confrontation erupted between those bringing the tree beans from Myanmar and the traders in Moreh who but it from them and sell it in the State.

Following the altercation, the Namphalong Bazar has also closed down.

Meanwhile, ADC Moreh N Gojendro and ASP Moreh M Mubi convened a meeting at 4:30pm at the Moreh Police Station to discuss the issue. However, no concrete resolution could be reach upon as there were no representatives from the across the border. The meeting will continue tomorrow at 7am.
