Consultative Committee on Cinema wants clarification on film-maker assualt case

IMPHAL, March 12: The Consultative Committee on Cinema in Manipur an apex body formed by 48 Civil Society Organizations has set a five-day deadline for those involved in the deadly assault of filmmaker Mayanglangbam Raghumani alias Epu on March 3 to come out clean on the reason behind the attack.

Speaking at a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today, convenor of the committee, Dr Y Mani Khuman continued that the concern individuals or organisation should clarify or meet the committee within the set deadline to bring an understanding.

He said the committee is yet to decide on its further course of action yet however, it decries the assault on the film-maker.

He further appealed to the all concerned to lift the ban on Film Forum Manipur and help re-open the cinema halls which have been closed down following the ban.

Dr Mani Khuman said although appeals have been made to all concerned to clarify on the assault, no clarification has been stated till date.

He further appealed to all against such violent acts which hinder the working of the State artists.
