Villagers not involved in March 10 assault of labourers: Khulsaibung VA

IMPHAL, March 14: The Khulsaibung Village Authority has claimed that their villagers were not involved in assaulting the ten workers on March 10.

It may be mentioned that some unknown arm miscreants assaulted ten workers engaged in the mini dam construction located at Sarku chang foothills, under the jurisdiction of Khulsaibung village near Chingkon Heirok Part II on March 10.

In joint statement issued by Khulsaibung village authority chairman Ch Modarshim and secretary D Korung said that their villagers were not involved in the said incident saying that some villagers were hunting on the same day (incident day).

The statement further said that the village leaders were insured to joint in the public meeting held at Heirok on relating with the incident. They alleged that two saw mill workers of Khulsaibung village working at Heirok were assaulted by local peoples in the morning (meeting day). On seeing the volatile situation in the area, the village leaders could not attend in the meeting.

The village leaders further express regret for failing to attend in the said meeting.
