IMPHAL, March 11: The Zeliangrong Baudi Assam, Manipur and Nagaland along with Zeliangrong Students’ Union, AZSU have strongly opposed the proposed creation of a separate full-fledged Jiribam District and also oppose the creation of Sadar Hills full-fledge district status at the cost of Zeliangrong land.
According to a release of the association, the state authority should consult with the concerned Zeliangrong people.
The organisation does not oppose the creation of any district in the state since creation of district is for the administrative convenience if the lands belonging to the Zelaingrong people are not disturbed or carved out, it said.
It has been urged to the government not to take any decision against the wish and interest of the Zeliangrong people otherwise various democratic forms of protest and agitation will be taken up, it said.
