IMPHAL, Apr 20: The proscribed outfit Maoist Communist Party, Manipur has issued a press statement asserting that it is time for the people of Manipur to question whether the Chief Minister has any right to continue as the CM even after his relatives has been charge-sheeted by the CBI in connection with the drug seizure case.

The statement signed by the outfit’s publicity and propaganda secretary Nonglen Meitei said the Chief Minister hanging on to his chair at such a juncture only proves that there is no medicine for shamelessness.

It further claimed that the CM in order to save his nephew Okram Henry had even disbanded the Special Investigation Unit for seizing the huge consignment of drugs from the airport and had even transferred police inspector K Ranjit leading the SIU team.

This only proves the involvement of the Chief Minister’s relative in the drug case, it said.

It further stated that Seikholen Haokip son of newly appointed MPCC president TN Haokip was also arrested for his involved in connection with another case of drug smuggling in 2013.

It further stated that considering all these, the CM and the MPCC president should step down on moral grounds, it said.
