IMPHAL, April 10: Dismissing the claim made by president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Chaoba in some local dailies that some Congress MLAs took crores of rupees to drop out of the ministerial race, MLA of Sagolband Constituency RK Imo who was recently appointed as the General Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) asserted that the party will retain power in the State with absolute majority in the upcoming general election.

The MLA made the assertion during inauguration of a community hall at Kwakeithel Maning Akham Leikai, Imphal West today.

Speaking at the function as chief guest, he cautioned Chaoba not to make such ‘unfounded’ and ‘baseless’ statement in future just to gain political mileage or else face defamation suit.

There are 48 Congress lawmakers at present so there is nothing to worry about break-up between the party MLAs and Ministers, the MLA averred.

Exuding confidence that the Congress party will get absolute number of seat in the upcoming general election which is likely to hold in early part of next year, he contended that BJP will not cross single digit of seats in the election.

He asked the BJP to name its leaders who will secure seats in the election.

The MLA dared Chaoba to name the Congress MLAs who allegedly took money to drop from being the contenders of ministerial berths.

Clarifying that the Congress has nothing to do with Chaoba’s statement, he asked the opposition party to worry about them instead of attacking his party.

BJP and other opposition parties are waiting for break-up between the Congress MLAs and Ministers by politicizing petty issues, which will never succeed, MLA Imo said.

Stating that the government has been taking up development works including road connectivity and supply of potable water, he declared that necessary road construction and pipe connection in all the pockets of Sagolband constituency will be done very soon.

The MAL also said compensation in the form of cheque had been given to the concerned family whose standing properties were affected by development of Nambul River during the last President Rule.

President of Yaipha Thousil Lup Akham Shanti and elders of the locality also shared dais with the chief guest.
