JIRIBAM, May 23 (JNN): All Jiribam Contract Teachers’ Association (AJCTA) staged a sit-in-protest in front of Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) Jiribam Special Branch office today, demanding service regularization of contract teachers of Jiribam.
At the protest site, placards that read, “We demand regularization of our services”, “Do not spoil our lives”, “Do not discriminate the contract teachers of Jiribam”, “Let us have the opportunity to make students’ future bright”, “We condemn the bias decision of Manipur Government” etc were displayed by the protestors.
Talking to media persons, a female teacher while welcoming the Cabinet decision taken on May 9 which approved regularization of part time of college, contract lecturer of Government Higher Secondary School and 13 teachers of Heirok High School lamented the government’s indifferent attitude shown towards contract teachers of Jiribam.
She questioned veracity of the statement given by Minister Okendro that there is no more contract and part time teachers in the Education Department.
Reminding that contract teachers of Jiribam are also working under the Education Department, she urged the government to consider their demand and absorb in the department.
