IMPHAL, May 23: The 28-hour public curfew called by the JAC Against the Cruel Firing at Nungei Meira Paibi from today midnight has paralysed normal life in Thoubal district.
Curfew supporters enforced road block at Wangbal, Khangabok, Thoubal Kiyam and Lilong, disrupting pedestrian and vehicular movement along the National Highway-2.
Road block was also witnessed at Leisangthem, Khekman, Wangkhem and Yairipok.
Thoubal, Kakching, Wangjing and Yairipok Markets remained closed. Attendance at government employees was low due to the imposition.
A large number of security forces were deployed in the areas to foil unwanted incidents during the course of the public curfew.
