IMPHAL, May 14: Two councillors and 14 ward development committee members were among those who had submitted their nomination papers for the Imphal Municipal Corporation elections so far. The last date for filing of nomination is May 17, 2016 but action will resume on May 16 on account of May 14 and 15 being official holidays.
The official said the matter of security arrangement and declaration of hyper sensitive, sensitive and normal polling stations is now under process in the respective DCs and SPs offices. So far, there is no intimation from home department to the State Election Commission on the size of security personnel for the IMC elections.
As per information two councillors and eleven ward development committee members from Imphal West district and only three WDC members for Imphal East District have submitted their nomination papers.
The Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) election will be held on June 2, 2016. Altogether 27 wards, among which nine seats are reserved for women candidates, will go for polls along with those for 54 ward development members.
