IMPHAL, May 24: A huge number of JCILPS supporters and volunteers numbering in hundreds tried to storm political party offices in Imphal areas including the Congress Bhawan, Irawat Bhawan and that of the Manipur Peoples’ Party.
This afternoon a large number of JCILPS volunteers including women and students came from different directions and tried to storm the Congress office.
However, the police present in the area prevented the protestors from entering the office premises.
The protestors, then, moved towards Irawat Bhawan and found the gate closed.
However, when the protestors tried to storm the MPP office, they were pleasantly welcomed by the MPP members present in the office and even showed solidarity to the protestors.
Later around 3pm, students of Tamphasana Higher Secondary School, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School, Churachand Higher Secondary School, Johstone Higher Secondary School and Brilliance School formed a human chain at Uripok-Khangchup road demanding immediate Implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the State.
Students shouted slogans like “immediate Implement ILPS in the State”, “delete non-local names in the voter list” etc.
