IMPHAL, May 25: A month long state level training on “Youth Leadership and Personality Development Programme” under the National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India concluded today at the Amity Guest House, DRDA Conference Hall, Chandel, according to a statement of the NYK Chandel.
Altogether 33 youths from the age group of 15 to 29 years from four districts of the State including Bishnupur, Imphal West, Thoubal and Chandel districts participated in the training programme organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel Manipur, it said.
ADC Chandel member Th Hopson, additional DC Chandel S Shambhunath Singh and DAYCP member, NYK Chandel Y Romio Chothe attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively of the valedictory function.
Delivering the keynote address, DYC NYK Chandel W Ibohal Singh said, during the training programme more than 32 resource persons from different departments and agencies spoke on different topics including on leadership qualities, life skills, personality development, volunteer ship, effective community participation, youth development, youth empowerment, environment and waste land development, gender justice and sensitivity, good citizenship, good governance and promotion of national integration, promotion of health, sanitation and family welfare activities.
As a part of the skill development, the participants were given training on Mushroom Cultivation, Juice Making, dish wash and detergent making, pickle making, jam and jelly making etc.
Educational field visits were also taken out to YVU Microfin, fish dryer centre, KVK Chandel, historical sites at Khongjom, adopted village of KVK Chandel at Chandonpokpi where the participants learnt a lot, it said.
Quiz, Debate, Ex-Tempore speech competitions, Group Discussion, role play, flip chart presentation, collage cutting etc. were done during the programme, it said.
